We are excited about upgrading with this move into our new facility later this month. We have the entire first floor. The address is 2995 Center Green Court, Suite A., Boulder, Colorado 80301, which is just a block over from our old address. Please make a note of it.

Chaos

Last month we investigated Chua's analog chaos circuit.  This month we investigate chaos in a dsp difference equation.  The logistic map difference equation is written x[n+1] = r * x[n] * (1-x[n]). The logistic map has been used to model population growth with r representing the reproduction rate and x[n] the normalized population at year n.  The plot of iterative x values vs. r yields a non-intuitive, complicated, bifurcation diagram.  Notice how the bifurcation diagram (bottom) is related to the Mandelbrot set fractal.  If you would like source code and a program which generates a bifurcation diagram, it can be downloaded here.  Reference: [1] Chaos, Fractals and Dynamics by Devaney [2] Wikipedia

Call for presentations: The IEEE Signal Processing Society is looking for speakers to present topics of interest to them in signal processing.  Please contact the SPS if you are interested.

Joe Carey of Fidelity Comtech will be presenting a talk on Phased Array Antenna Technologies on October 13th. Visit the IEEE ComSoc site for more information or to RSVP.
